Hochiak in the News
Miscellaneous October 22nd, 2007
I always read The Star newspaper and like any other day, one of my favourite pastimes would be to read the newspaper. A day is like incomplete if I do not read the newspaper. So, as I was flipping through the pages of The Star yesterday, I noticed a familiar picture. It is a picture of a plate of Mee Rebus which I took when I did a food review back in August. As I read further, I then realised that it was highlighting the post I did on Rosli’s Mee Rebus. A smile was brought to my face to see the article highlighting the Mee Rebus food review.
Thanks to Sangeetha of The Star for finding my food review newsworthy
To those of you who have just arrived at this site courtesy of The Star Online, Welcome!

Actually.. did you get paid? it’s kind of sneaky for The Star to use blogger’s material more and more to fill up their pages. It would cost a lot of money to retain a full time writer, or even a part-time contributor.
Also that brilliant but sneaky RM50 photo of the day. It would cost hundreds (or thousands) to buy a photo from a professional photographer (travel costs, equipment costs, ie RM10K-RM50K for cameras, zoom lenses etc).
I suppose you do get some free publicity and a bit of ad revenue, but I think someone somewhere is getting screwed, hahaha

Congratulations my friend! This is indeed wonderful news and isn’t it wonderful to see your name (or pseudonym) in print?

Tine : More will depend on Sangeetha
Hint! Hint! Anyway, I’ve taken some pics of good looking and tasting hawker fare. I’ll put up a review…when I have a bit of extra time
Been pretty busy of late.
ghj : Nope. I don’t get paid but I don’t mind them mentioning. Whilst it is true that they save some money by scouring for articles elsewhere, the readers know that the source. Looking through the bigger picture, it gives local food bloggers some form of publicity
ParisB :
It must have felt as good as when you were mentioned (and interviewed) as well
This time, there are incoming traffic,.
