Linky Loved

Miscellaneous April 25th, 2007

Taking a break from the usual recipes and food reviews, this is a post to share some linky love with some of my favourite food blogs that I visit often, some of whom are now considered “kitchen friends” or even “pork buddies”. I never thought that this blog could go so far as to have its own domain today but it is also a challenge as I am regularly asking my mum to dig deep into her memory for her home-cooked recipes. There are some coming eg. popiah, bak chang (rice dumplings), itik sioh etc and also those delicious cakes and kuehs which are my mother-in-law’s specialty. I will share with you some recommended food blogs and my reasons for them:-

Who inspired me to this blog?

Apart from mother, it has got to be Food Haven authored by Lilian. This blog features great food and recipes found predominantly in Penang as well as other parts of Malaysia as and when Lilian travels. I have always liked her style of writing which strikes me as very personal and captivating. I also owe it to her for writing about this blog and giving me a headstart with traffic and publicity to get me going. That truly motivated me! I am quite sure some of my readers here were referred here from her blog and you will agree with what I say about Food Haven. In fact, this post is a small modification of the linky love that she extended to me.

Which food blog do I visit everyday?

There are a few. Rasa Malaysia is one of them. I am ALWAYS caught in awe of the recipes Bee Yinn posts in her food blog and the photographs she take are breathtaking (and drool inducing). It would not be wrong to call her an ambassador of Malaysian food. She writes good travel posts as well but it is the food blog which brings me back everyday.

The other would be Simcooks. This mother-to-be is a Singaporean lady currently residing in Bay Area, California and she has many simple home-cook recipes to share in her food blog. She was one of the first to link to my site and we do share recipes once in a while. Oh yes, we belong to the Porky Lover club…Kong Bak rocks!

I will also mention Teczcape who is better known as Tigerfish. If my statistics serve me correctly, I think she has a food post a day and they usually entertain me by the way she writes or describes about the food. There is no doubting that Tigerfish loves her food and enjoys sharing them. The number of comments per post is a testament of her popularity in the net.

Do visit them as well as the food blogs featured in my blogroll. They are good! Just remember to get a tissue ready in case you cannot resist drooling over your computer monitor as you look at the yummylicious pictures of food.

I can’t wait for the itik sioh recipe. I had them before but that was years ago and I am dying to get my hand on the recipe and try em! BTW, I really want to learn how to make those delicious nyonya kuih like kosui, onde2 and others. Do you think you can ask your mummy dearest for the recipe, if she has one? Keep up the good work!
